It signifies that we have excelled in a number of different areas, including workforce development, employee engagement, and overall HR performance. 2021 SHRM Pinnacle Award
In 2020 Dodge County SHRM held our first annual DEI Conference. This was a new initiative to meet community needs regarding Diversity Equity and Inclusion. Our half day conference had over 170 attendees representing diverse industries, including Education, Health Care, and Manufacturing. Our chapter developed, organized, and hosted an in-person, SHRM-certified Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Conference which included three nationally recognized speakers, five area experts, and a panel discussion.
This event was such a successful exercise in collaboration and forward thinking, that we held a second conference the following year. In 2021 we received the 2021 SHRM Pinnacle Award for our conference, A Deliberate Path Towards Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Our chapter had recognized the hiring challenges faced today by employers in Dodge County and the surrounding areas, including a need for increased DEI awareness.

2017 SHRM Pinnacle Award
In 2017, Dodge County SHRM was honored with the prestigious SHRM Pinnacle Award for our groundbreaking program, “The Value of Joined Forces.” In partnership with Moraine Park Technical College, the WI Department of Veterans Affairs, student Veterans organizations and career centers, we created a unique Veterans Hiring and Resource Event. This event not only brought together employers and Veterans, but also provided personalized opportunities for Veterans to receive career counseling, connect with community resources, and obtain meaningful employment in the region.
Our goal was to go above and beyond the standard job fair by providing Veterans with a stepping stone to finding work. To ensure that only employers with active job openings could participate, we only allowed qualifying employers to participate in the event. Over half of our employer members participated, and the event was also attended by state resources for Veterans, education counselors, and career center instructors. Our aim was to truly join forces by connecting local employers, resources, and the Veterans community. By enhancing the SHRM community and supporting Veterans, we fulfilled our mission to create a lasting impact in our region.
2015 SHRM Pinnacle Award
Dodge County SHRM received the SHRM Pinnacle Award in 2015. Our efforts to enhance the SHRM community and become a valuable HR resource in Dodge County is a “comeback” story in SHRM history. “The Little Chapter That Could” has come a long way from the verge of disbanding, to becoming a vibrant chapter with 667% growth in professional membership in two years. This is a testament to a fully engaged board of directors and our chapter members.
The SHRM – Dodge County chapter was on the verge of disbanding in January of 2013. There were only 9 members at that time and we contemplated becoming a service chapter for one of two large metro area chapters. However, after meeting with the large chapters, we recognized the importance and the need to have a local resource for the HR professionals in the rural Dodge County area.
The board recognized the need and importance of providing valuable HR resources for area HR professionals and business leaders. Through all of our efforts – from rebranding our chapter, growing our membership, offering relevant monthly presentations with certification credits, partnering with MPTC and 4 Area Chambers of Commerce to promote awareness of the chapter, sponsored a new SHRM student chapter, and offered certification courses – we succeeded in enhancing the SHRM community in the Dodge County area.
